New Pollinator Garden
- Posted on Mar 14, 2024
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, as a visible, tangible sign of Emmanuel’s faith-based commitment to (1) the stewardship of God’s creation, which has been entrusted to us, (2) being a vitally active member of the community of Western Maryland, and (3) finding innovative ways to bring people together to build relationships and live the gospel, we are converting a large portion of Emmanuel’s grounds from turf grass to sustainable, environmentally supportive native pollinators. We are collaborating with the Diocese of Maryland, the Maryland Department of Transportation, the Maryland Extension Service, the Allegany High School FFA, parishes and community organizations in Western Maryland, Frostburg State University, Allegany College of Maryland, Episcopal parishes in Frederick and Calvert County, and engaged folks from around the entire region to make this project a success. We need every member of Emmanuel to step up and help make this undertaking a nexus of lived-Christianity in Cumberland. We will need folks who will plant the pollinators, people who will carry the plants to the folks planting, people to care for the volunteers, people to organize and oversee, people to feed the volunteers and distribute water, and—MOST IMPORTANTLY—people to pray for everyone involved; for their health and safety, and the project’s success. There will be roles for folks of every age and ability level. Please sign up by scanning the QR code or following this link: https://bit.ly/pollinator-sign-up . Then, please forward this message to your friends and family. We will consistently need a group of about 120 folks throughout the day. May God Bless You for your generosity in supporting this innovative new ministry at Emmanuel.
